Internal mics are often digital (DMIC) rather than analog; you could try
that out. It's possible that you'd also need to turn on a voltage
regulator to use it; some of our reference boards work that way (same
regulator as for the webcam in our case)

Скорее всего надо включать оба итема, перед тем, как пробовать внутренний или внешний микрофон.
